75 years of tradition
Christmas is the most sacred family holiday in the Christian world. Today, we can hardly imagine the warmth and glow of the holiday without the sparkling Christmas ornaments shining in a variety of colors. When Jozef Wratschko returned home from captivity after World War II and founded his company in Graz — Alpenländische Christbaumschmuckfabrik, J. Wratschko — he probably never imagined the flourishing business he would leave behind.
Since the family enterprise was founded in 1947, the third generation has been working to ensure that everyone can find the hand-crafted, radiant glass ornaments that best suit their taste. In 1967, his son Volker Wratschko took over the management of the factory, and through its expansion, large-scale production of high-quality glass ornaments became possible.
Following the opening of the western border in 1997, economic relations with neighboring eastern countries intensified, and the entire factory was relocated to Sopron, Hungary. The management of the company was entrusted to the founder’s grandson, the then 22-year-old Norbert Wratschko.
Today, the factory operates under the name Pannonia Dekor Kft. on the outskirts of Sopron. Norbert Wratschko and his wife, Zsófia Wratschko, successfully manage the production of Christmas ornaments, whose exceptional quality is highly recognized both domestically and abroad. The fourth generation is now growing up — perhaps one day they will continue the family business, thus carrying on the chronicle of the Wratschko family…
